onemoon is proud to offer an introduction to photography class taught by Charles Rountree on October 1st through 5th from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Stressing the development of visual sensitivity and creative expression, the program aims to provide a gateway for aspiring youth artists to develop their individual visual voices through the medium of photography. Students will use basic 35mm cameras and black and white film to explore composition and light, and will participate in daily peer critiques to improve their work. The program will culminate with an exhibition at onemoon, where students will have the opportunity to show enlargements of their best photographs. Classes will be taught in English with Chinese translation. Enrollment is open to all middle school students in Beijing, facilitating a cross-cultural exchange of perspectives and artistic ideas. The cost of the program is 675 RMB and covers all materials including cameras. Admission to the program is limited to eight participants and is determined by application. Applications can be picked up at the gallery in Ditan Park or downloaded from the gallery’s website at www.onemoonart.com. Students must submit their applications by September 13th and will be notified about their enrollment status before September 19th.
